Both of my Nazi essays are done. The big one looks quite sexy, if I do say so myself (though it took Chelsea and I at least five minutes to figure out how to use the damn thing. Fuck you, Avery Dennison Office Products!). My Mengele essay is more than acceptable and, suddenly, I'm not feeling so bad for bombing my Geology final or forgetting to perform a 'posture-gesture merger' or saying that the most important thing in a stage manager is an effective personality. What now, motherfuckers?
Other cool things about today: I am no longer taking English 102 (also known as English I Don't Give a Shit about Argument). My mentor is the most amazing woman in the world and not only called the head of our gen ed programme in the theatre department, but also a head-honcho in the English department and pimped me out so that I'm in some sort of Honours English Course which I shall rock, mostly so that I can make her proud. She's also signed me up for an independent study with her. I think I can make a paper out of The Full Monty: The Musical; probably something about displacement in cultural translation (ie. what's different from the English movie and the American play) with a little hint of gender roles and image issues (something in the This Is Why Seventeen Magazine Is The Devil vein). Again: excitement.
Tomorrow I have my German essay to write and two schematics for my make-up final on Thursday. I don't have to head to Nazis until three o'clock, so I'm hoping to get some laundry done while I'm writing/drawing/packing/freaking out. We'll see how that goes.
1. Seeing Christie, Paige, Stacy, Bozarth, Liesl, etc.
2. Reading for pleasure (WHAT A CONCEPT!)
3. Research. Yes, I know, nerd.
4. Hanging out with Basti and Lem
5. My parents (hopefully this will not include Mum's pending freak-out)
6. Work (What? Have you been to the BTown Auction Gallery?)
7. New hardwood floors!
8. It's A Wonderful Life (the only Christmas tradition I still actively celebrate)
1. Aforementioned pending freak-out
2. Not seeing the Carbondale Kids
3. Ice storms
4. Boredom
5. Any fight I might have with my mother
The good outweighs the bad. I see this as a good thing.
I might try to come back to Car-bohn-duh-lay early, depending on what life is like at home. Randy's offered me a semi-permanent place to stay, which is really nice of him. I couldn't sleep last night, so I went over to his apartment and we talked about shit and watch half and episode of The Wire and he let me crash on his couch. He's a good friend, even if he isn't so good at some other stuff. We'll work something out; we've all-ready started to.
And on that note, I got two hours of sleep last night. I'm going to bed before I start seeing pink elephants. Don't freeze out there!
