25 December 2002

My family has bickered over shovelling snow, there's wrapping paper in various odd locations, I've seen Two Towers for the second time in 2 weeks and there are new socks floating about.
Happy Christmas.
I never did understand this whole Christmas thing. My religious friends tell me that the point of Christmas is to celebrate the supposed messiah's birth. It is a time to rejoice for the forgiveness and love of a major deity and to spend extra time caring for those less fortunate than ourselves. Yet all of this beautiful symbolism and secular holiday-ness is drowned out by greed and an old fat guy in red. Don't that sound jeeest purdy?
America baffles me. American values and traditions baffle me more. I think I'll go hide with my new pairs of socks.
